George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States, was sworn into office on January 20, 2001 and served as Commander in Chief for two consecutive terms after serving for six years as Governor of the State of Texas. He received a bachelor's degree in history from Yale University in 1968, and after serving as a pilot in the Texas Air National Guard, received a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.

Since leaving office, President Bush has focused his attention on developing the George W. Bush Presidential Center at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, which will encompass the Presidential Library and Museum, Archives, and the George W. Bush Institute. The Institute seeks to improve the human condition through education reform, global health, human freedom, and economic growth.

In November of 2010, President Bush published his memoir, Decision Points, where he shares a personal and candid account of the most defining decisions of his personal life and presidency.

Former First Lady Laura Bush is actively involved in issues of national and global concern, with a particular emphasis on education, health care and human rights..

A former teacher and librarian, Mrs. Bush organized the White House Summit on Early Childhood Cognitive Development in 2001, providing a forum for prominent scholars and educators to present research on preparing children for a life of learning. She is an enthusiastic proponent of teacher recruitment programs such as Teach for America, The New Teacher Project and Troops to Teachers.

Mrs. Bush advocates women's health issues, actively participating in breast-cancer and heart-disease awareness campaigns around the world. She collaborated with the U.S. Department of State, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center to launch international partnerships in support of breast-cancer awareness and research.

Her memoir, Spoken from the Heart, released May 2010, is a New York Times #1 best seller.
